In selecting our hanging shoe organizers, we looked for models made with rugged materials, as well as those with features that let you make the most of your storage space. A good variety of styles was important, too, so we included ones with tiered designs, some with standard cubbies, a couple with mostly fabric builds, and a few with hard materials. Since there are so many types of footwear, we also aimed to include models that could accommodate most of those.
Shoppers who want something akin to hanging shelves where they can place several pairs of shoes side-by-side might like the Whitmor 6486-1746. Its bars can be folded up flat to make room for larg footwear, and it has strong construction. The FKUO 10-Tier also has a spacious design that makes it easy to display and access accessories. Though the rotating Pro-Mart Smart Carousel has a lot of compartments, we removed it because its pockets are too small.
When it comes to durable construction, we like the Storage Maniac Large Pocket Shelf, with its canvas material, as well as the Aristocratic Homewares Over-the-Door Closet Organizer, which has medium density fiberboard panels fortifying its slots. With the thought of durability in mind, we decided to remove the Rubbermaid Configurations since the hangers bend too easily.
