The 10 Best ATV Saddle Bags

Updated October 16, 2020 by Cat Bushen

This wiki has been updated 9 times since it was first published in September of 2020. Whether exploring or working, whether in a forest, a field, on the sand, or any other terrain, when out and about on an ATV everyone needs a place to store drinks, food, tools, or personal belongings. Saddle and fender bags are convenient as they keep your equipment close to hand, so it's quick and easy to grab what you want; most of the time you won't even need to dismount. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Kolpin Pursuit Camo If you're looking to take more than just a few things on your trip, you may want to consider a rear-mounted bag with two 18-liter gear compartments and a 20-liter cool bag. This one has a padded seat that can be adjusted to make an additional storage crate, though you might need to use straps to secure anything you put in this area. koplin.com

Nelson-Rigg Sahara Dry Made with 24-ounce tarpaulin PVC and roll-top closures, this waterproof duffle bag is ideal for riders who don't mind getting wet but don't want to soak their belongings. It has internal panels that help to maintain its shape, even when it's not full, and these are removable if you prefer something more compact. powersportsid.com

Editor's Notes

October 13, 2020:

When driving around on your ATV, the least you want to take with you, apart from your helmet, is a bottle of water. For the majority of trips, you'll be taking a lot more, such as a cell phone, a camera, handtools, and possibly some food. Just like panniers for motorcycles, ATV saddle and fender bags are ideal for storing personal belongings, as they keep everything close to hand.

Although many items on our list are water resistant, the ATV Tek AFBLK is the only one that is actually waterproof. It has straps top and bottom, so it can be pulled tight to the quad bike, without the need for hook and loop fasteners, which many other designs use. We liked its zipper-free construction, as zippers can often get clogged with sand or dirt, or they simply rust, making them impossible to open, and putting strain on the surrounding area as you wrestle with them. For a similar reason, the Kemimoto Top Bag caught our eye, as its zippers are resistant to the aforementioned complaints, making it a great choice for riders who like to get muddy.

When purchasing a saddle bag, one thing to look out for is how it fastens to the vehicle. The Carrfan Accessories Pack, and the Wilove Cargo Storage, both secure in place via a central gas cap, so they won't be suitable for some tank configurations. Likewise, the Coco Universal Storage has a rather larger cutout, so small gas caps won't be able to keep it in place.

Originally from Wales, UK, Cat skipped the country shortly after completing her bachelor of arts in English and social policy, with no real purpose other than to see the world. Years and countless jobs later, such as coaching tennis, teaching at the constitutional court of Indonesia, and building a guesthouse on a beach, she still has no intention of settling down. Having begun training in Taekwondo at the age of five, she achieved her black belt before going on to study kickboxing and Krav Maga, resulting in a good knowledge of all things related to martial arts. Through years of hiking up volcanoes and mountains, scuba diving, and just generally riding around on a motorcycle, Cat is well informed in the fields of outdoor clothing and equipment, camping paraphernalia, and of course travel.
