The 5 Best Universal Pickup Truck Bed Extenders

Updated February 27, 2019 by Brett Dvoretz

This wiki has been updated 16 times since it was first published in January of 2019. While many people choose a pickup truck for its ability to conveniently haul cargo of all types, you may find yourself requiring a couple of more feet from time to time in order to accommodate extra-long items. That's when these universal bed extenders come to the rescue. They are a convenient way to quickly expand your usable space whenever needed. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

February 24, 2019:

While every model on this list adds to your cargo space, some have helpful features that offer additional benefits. For example, if you require a few extra feet in your bed to transport a motorcycle, then the ReadyRamp I-Beam 33-0066 and Extreme Max RampXtender are smart options, since they double as bike ramps. They also both fold completely flat when removed, making for compact storage in your garage or shed. The Amp Research 74817 and Amp Research 74802 flip into your bed when not being used as extenders, which allows you to use them to keep smaller items like groceries and luggage contained when your drive around, rather than sliding all around. It is worth noting however, that the Amp Research 74802 adds less additional space to your bed than most other models because of its sporty, tapered shape. We also feel many will appreciate the Top Line BX4004's ability to be removed from a pickup in a matter of seconds by just pulling a couple of quick-release pins. It is also unique in that it folds completely flat against the tailgate, which means it won't divide your bed when not being used as an extender, as nearly every other model will.
