The 10 Best Drawer Dividers

Updated October 27, 2019 by Brett Dvoretz

This wiki has been updated 24 times since it was first published in January of 2018. Physicists say the universe tends toward chaos, and nowhere is that more visibly true than in drawers. No matter how careful you are, the items inside immediately jumble themselves up the second you close them in. That is, unless you use these nifty dividers. They keep everything neat and organized, making it a cinch to locate what you need when you need it in kitchens, bedrooms or bathrooms. When users buy our independently chosen editorial picks, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. West Elm Expandable Cutlery Drawer Organizer The West Elm Organizer has been smartly designed to maximize the use of small spaces. Rather than simply allowing you to adjust the size of each compartment, the entire thing can be extended or retracted as need to fit your drawer. It also includes a clear, multi-compartment, upper layer that is easy to remove when you want to access anything underneath. westelm.com

Grainger PRDDS2500 Made of heavy-duty steel, this divider is ideal for separating tools and fasteners that might damage some less sturdy options. It comes with a total of seven pieces, two 26-inch long ones with laser-cut notches, and five short ones for making cross divisions. grainger.com

Editor's Notes

October 23, 2019:

We would be lying if we said there were a lot of technological updates to drawer dividers every year, which is probably there were very few new products to make our list during this round of updates. In fact, the only items replaced were the DrawerZen Spring-Loaded, due to availability issues, and the Sodynee Foldable, because we felt it was more of a closet organizer than something that would work well for dividing a single drawer into multiple compartments.

That being said, we are just as fond of all the rest of our picks now as we were the last time we reviewed them. Those who have wood furniture and want the interior of their draws to look just as nice as the outside, we recommend the Bambüsi Spring-Loaded. Since it is made of eco-friendly bamboo, it may look like something that came with your dresser or desk, rather than an after-the-fact accessory.

Of course for some, versatility is the most important factor, which is why the Practical Comfort MDO10 also ranked highly. It is capable of creating up to nine compartments, length of each can be adjusted to suit your needs, making it great for everything from flatware to office products. The ShineMe Grid is another extremely versatile option, though we will be the first to admit it isn't the strongest and most stable model. We also like the Made Smart Interlocking Bin Pack because it comes with a large variety of compartments shapes and sizes, and you can use as many or as few as you need to keep your stuff organized.

If you need to organize slightly larger items, like T-shirts or undergarments, the Simple Housewares BO-006-1 is a worthy option. It is crafted of a mold-proof fabric and, with over 40 compartments, should provide you with a dedicated space for everything.
