Editor's Notes

September 08, 2020:

Since alarm clocks are used by a wide variety of people, all of whom have their own needs and priorities, we focused on providing variety with this update.

The Titiroba Sunrise was added for those looking to use a wake-up light to start the day. This model has a light that gets increasingly bright, simulating a sunrise, which can be helpful for establishing a consistent circadian rhythm.

The DreamSky Compact is a simple digital clock that has an extra large, easy-to-read display. The casing and lights both come in a variety of colors, so you can pick a style that matches your decor.

Those who want to use their clock to power a lamp or charge a non-USB device like a laptop should consider the Brandstand CubieBlue or the Homtime Radio, which feature both power outlets and USB ports. If you're looking for a device that can double as a high-quality speaker, the Sangean RCR-20, Soundfreaq Sound Rise, and Anker Soundcore Wakey are all good options.

While most of these clocks can only charge smartphones via USB, there are a few that also feature wireless charging, like the Anker Soundcore Wakey and iLuv Morning Call.

January 17, 2019:

Included the Sangean RCR-20 for its simple profile, compact size, and powerful audio output. Its convenient battery backup feature also allows it to continue working in case the power goes out. I thought the IHome IBT29 was a particularly colorful option, while the built-in mic and speaker makes it easy to take calls without having to hold onto one's mobile phone. Both the Brandstand CubieBlue and Yostyle Station have small footprints and are also equipped with USB ports and power outlets for superior connectivity. Also added the ILuv Morning Call due to its Qi wireless technology and extra-large LED readout. Also included the Smartro Digital and Electrohome USB for their innovative projection capabilities. Finally, the Magnasonic CR63 was worthy of inclusion, thanks to the adaptive design of its internal brightness sensor to adjust to surrounding light conditions.
