This wiki has been updated 18 times since it was first published in January of 2018. Though it's been a long time since the introduction of the standard chip bag, there's still no universal solution for keeping them sealed between uses. Enter the chip clip, which simply cinches the bag shut with a bit of spring-loaded force. Our selection includes classic styles as well as a few versions that are updated for the 21st century and can handle all sorts of foods. Editor's Notes

May 12, 2020:

One of the most simplistic, yet vital, kitchen gadgets out there, the chip clip is a straightforward contraption that takes many forms. We know that everybody has a variety of preferences and needs, and this list speaks to that. You'll find budget-friendly plastic designs like the Kizmos Multipurpose and Anphsin Plastic, sturdy metal ones like the NameStar Mighty Clip, and even something a little different in The Gripstic. Our priorities when ranking our selections included durability, although that's always been a pain point for this category, efficacy, versatility, ease of use and care, design, and a fair price.

If you're dealing with bulk-sized chip bags, then you can't go wrong with the large Chef Craft Set, strong Yansanido Assorted Utility, or newly-added House Again Perfect. We like the House Again brand for its tough stainless steel construction that doesn't rust and can endure cold temperatures, making it suitable for use in the freezer. Because sharp edges have always presented an issue with metal clip designs, these ones sport silicone strips to remedy that. They also provide good tension and aren't outfitted with flimsy springs like many others.

Also joining the list today are the Karma Gifts Clips, which should hopefully solve a problem people have when selecting chip clips. As you've likely noticed, the items in this category tend to be extremely colorful and even childish looking, which can be great for some families and less than stellar for others. These represent a different take on the typical design for those who want to go another route.

We also added the Yansanido Assorted Utility when the Yueton Multipurpose Utility became unavailable and decided to remove the Kikkerland Woodlands due to repeated complaints regarding them scratching and breaking very quickly.
