Baskets of Africa Ghana Bolga Those who prefer to stand out, rather than blend in, will appreciate the Baskets of Africa Ghana Bolga, a brightly colored market basket that boasts a leather-wrapped handle for durability. Each one is made by skilled artisans, and the company is a member of the Fair Trade Federation, so you can feel just as good about buying one as you do while using it. basketsfromafrica.com

Muuto Restore You wouldn't know it to look at the Muuto Restore, but the felt each is crafted with is made from recycled plastic bottle fibers, making this an environmentally-friendly storage solution. There are plenty of rich colors to select from, as well as several sizes, so there's one for every home. muuto.com

Editor's Notes

May 25, 2020:

You'll be able to whip your home into tip-top shape in no time with any of these storage baskets, but we removed the Trademark Innovations Foldable Hyacinth, which sheds fibers — we know you probably don't need more to clean. If you like the woven look, the VonHaus Seagrass or the Household Essentials Wicker Step are good alternatives. Note, though, that both can have a slight smell at first, due to the natural materials. If that's a deal-breaker, you might consider instead the Whitmor Rattique, which looks like an all-natural woven basket, but is actually made of plastic. This makes it easy to clean, too, like most plastic storage bins. If that's too pricey, there's the Sterilite Medium Ultra. Also crafted from plastic, these are basic but affordable, perfect for use everywhere from the garage to the living room.

If metal is more your style, there's the Home Basics Steel and the Spectrum Diversified Wire, both single units, and the Mikasa Harbor, a three-tier model. We selected the latter in place of the Mikasa Gourmet Basics, which has small hooks that don't keep the baskets in place very well. The Harbor model, on the other hand, is relatively sturdy, and has a charming vintage vibe that's sure to attract compliments.
